Athletics are a vital part of not only our school but our community.  Please take the time to read blog posts related to sports and sports activities.

Our athletes are involved in many other activities outside of athletics like music, clubs, organizations and academic groups. We do ask our athletes to donate time to the community to give back to the people that support and provide to them.

How much do our teams practice and are activities they do outside of practice (ex. lift as a team)?
The average HS school practice last around 2 hours & 15 minutes and the average JH practice will last for 1 hour 45 minutes Most teams in season will review game film on themselves and their opponents. This usually takes additional 3-5 hours per week beyond the practice times. We do have in season and off season lifting for the athletes. The in season lifting is ran by each coaching staff and is done 1-2 days a week for about 30 minutes each session. The off season lifting is ran by a few coaches. They lift 3-4 days per week for 1 hour 15 minutes.

What is the total cost to run each program?
*answer coming soon

Is it possible to cut our most costly programs and keep the programs that are less expensive to run?

It is possible to cut individual programs. The requirement is that girls and boys have an equal amount of sports to participate in for Ohio Revised Code compliance.

With Pay to Participate, why do all students have to pay the same amount?  Why couldn't each participant pay the exact expense incurred by that activity?

This could be done if pay to participate was implemented.

We have a very generous Athletic Boosters.  How much do they contribute to the sports program and how is that money used for athletics?

$14937 donated to athletic department during the 2011 calendar year.  Money was used for a new high jump and pole vault pit at the track and for a new shooting machine for basketball.  Turf for batting cages at SAC complex was also paid for by athletic booster funds. Uniform rotation is paid by the boosters annually so that each sport gets new uniforms regularly.

More information can be found on the MEVS website page for Athletic Boosters   Thanks Athletic Boosters for supporting our school!

Do individual programs have fundraisers?
